Fans approved of Kellan’s “A Nightmare on Elm Street” performance

Hollywood News posted this article about ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’.

“Twilight” fans with a soft spot for Emmett flocked to theaters this past weekend to get a glimpse of Kellan Lutz in the 2010 remake of “A Nightmare on Elm Street”. He had featured prominently in early trailers for the film, and fans hoped his character, Dean Russell, would feature prominently.

Though he didn’t have as much screen time as his biggest fans might have enjoyed, many are hoping that the film’s success will help boost Kellan’s career. The film made $32.2 million in its opening, weekend, which already puts it $5 million in profit above its original budget; its high rankings and good reviews among target audiences will further guarantee its success.

“A Nightmare on Elm Street” is a box-office leader
Posted by Jullie • No Comments »

From Deadline.com:

SUNDAY AM: Warner Bros is already planning the 3D sequel. “The franchise is very much alive,” an exec told me this morning. Because this weekend’s opening for New Line/Warner Bros’ A Nightmare On Elm Street was $32.2 million — or 15.8 million Friday and $10.5 million Saturday and Sunday’s estimate from 3,332 theaters. (Friday’s take includes $1.6 million from Thursday midnight shows in about 1,000 locations, a new record for a horror flick previously held by the February 2009 rebooted Friday The 13th’s $1 million.) “A Nightmare On Elm Street is a dream that won’t stop,” a rival studio exec emailed me. Puh-leeze, this Michael Bay-produced pic received rotten reviews. In all, this is the 9th in the infamous franchise — if you count number Freddy vs Jason — with Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger. (Robert Englund as the slasher used to scare me so badly I could never even watch the trailers of the old films.)

Here’s the Top 10:

1. Nightmare on Elm Street (NL/WB) NEW [3,332 Runs]
Friday $15M, Saturday $10.5M, Weekend $32.2M

‘Nightmare on Elm Street’: Can you survive being this scared?
Posted by Nadine • 3 Comments »

From zap2it.com:

Still deciding if you want to see the new “A Nightmare on Elm Street” this weekend?

Word of warning: Watch this HD trailer to see if your stomach — and your heart — are strong enough to stand it. Then read our review of the film.

The film is a re-imagining of the horror icon Freddy Krueger, a serial-killer who wields a glove with four very sharp blades embedded in the fingers.

Freddie likes to kill people in their dreams, which, amazingly, causes their death in reality. Oh, it also stars “Twilight” hunk Kellan Lutz, “Melrose Place” vixen Katie Cassidy and a bunch of young hotties we aren’t familiar with yet but probably will be soon.

Frankly, after watching this trailer once, we may never sleep again.

“A Nightmare on Elm Street” sets record for horror midnights
Posted by Jullie • 4 Comments »

From Deadline.com

FRIDAY 2:15 PM: I was just told that the New Line/Warner Bros reimagining of A Nightmare On Elm Street debuted to $1.6 million from Thursday midnight shows in about 1,000 theaters. That’s way more than the previous record for a horror flick: the February 2009 rebooted Friday The 13th‘s $1 million. Today, Nightmare opens in 3,332 locations and my sources tell me right now the Friday domestic grosses look like a whopping $15M to $17M. So that’s a $40+M opening weekend for sure. In all, this is the 9th in the infamous franchise (if you count number Freddy vs Jason) with Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger. (Robert Englund used to scare me so badly I couldn’t even watch the trailers.)
